MAJID BARADAR
Founder & Executive Development

Majid Baradar founded 12Petals Media Group. Majid's vision was to develop a community-production based media group with an emphasis on the "culture of human rights" philosophy. By teaming together, pooling resources, and challenging the commonly accepted ways of how media projects should be made, 12Petals Media Group is hoping to be a union of interdependent visual artists, musicians, filmmakers, cinematographers, playwrights and social entrepreneurs.

Majid was born in 1953 and grew up in Tehran as teenager, received an education in Texas, and has treasured living in San Francisco Bay Area since 1980. His long cherished career was as a Civil/Transportation/Earthquake Professional Engineering Consultant, a commitment spanning over thirty years. Among other accomplishments in his engineering field, Majid was recipient of the 1995 Professional Achievement Award from Professional Engineers in California Government for his exemplary contribution to the profession throughout his public and engineering career. He is the author for several published and well-respected books within the seismic engineering field (Professional Publication Inc.).

Coming from a background that has required strategic planning, Majid deeply values the importance this kind of contribution can make to issues that normally evoke intense emotional responses. With a focus now on projects of social relevance, he brings this perspective to them all. For non-violence theme, in 2008 he participated in a full-length documentary project called "Iran is not the Problem" wherein he offered historical and strategic perspectives on the current tensions between the United States and Iran. As the Executive of Development for the 12Petals Media Group, he now hopes to help foster and promote the culture of human rights through media. In 2010, this vision and his experience culminated in his first producing short film titled "Culture of Human Rights". His center of attention is presently on paving the way to ultimately produce his documentary film "Human Rights: For Everyone?"
